One of the most needed nutrients that are important or essential to maintain a healthy human body are the minerals. The nine minerals that are mostly needed by the human body are iodine, phosphorus, calcium, iron, potassium, sodium, copper, zinc, and magnesium. It has been reported that if the people will add or incorporate sea vegetables and freshwater algae, like spirulina and chlorella, on their diet, then it can actually help them meet the required nutritional level of the human body. The chlorella and the spirulina are both recognized as nutrient-dense algae that are commonly found on fresh water; but the difference between them is that chlorella is a single-celled green alga, while the spirulina are blue-green alga or cyanobacteria. The chlorella is actually a very good source of vitamins A, vitamins B12, vitamins C, zinc, iron, and magnesium; while the spirulina is a very good source of minerals like manganese, antioxidants, B vitamins, copper and iron. These two freshwater algae are considered as rejuvenators of the human body, in which it can improve the mental and some other energy levels of the body, it can also promote weight loss, it can also improve the immune system, and lastly, it can be used to aid detoxification. Mostly, these two freshwater algae are being sold in the market in different ways, such as in capsule form, in tablet form, and powdered green supplements or individual powders.
The term sea vegetables is also known as seaweeds, and they are found in the ocean. Some of the common examples of seaweeds that are rich in nutrients, like magnesium, iron, zinc, potassium, iodine, and calcium; are kelp, nori, kombu, and dulse. The seaweeds or sea vegetables are mostly sold dried and ready to be eaten by the people, and these can be easily purchased in supermarkets; and mostly they vary in appearance, flavor and texture.
